The CREAM OF THE CROP basketball event is an important step towards athletes realizing their recruiting goals of playing basketball at a North American College or University. Due to COVID-19 high school sports was cancelled, leaving athletes with little or no options to pursue their basketball career. Faced with the challenges that COVID-19 presented, CREAM OF THE CROP decided to create an event that would help these athletes by providing an opportunity to showcase themselves. WE WILL FOLLOW AHS PROTOCOLS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ALL THE ATHLETES & STAFF.
The CREAM OF THE CROP is a member of the Amateur Athletics Union Canada (AAUC) and also supported by Jumpstart.
The Cream of the Crop Land Acknowledgement
We would like to respectfully acknowledge that Amiskwaciywâskahikan (Edmonton) is located on Treaty 6 territory. We are grateful to be on Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Métis, T’suu T’ina, Blackfoot, and Nakota Sioux territory, specifically the ancestral space of the Papaschase Cree. Further, we know that Indigenous people are the original inhabitants of the land in what is now referred to as Canada, and we recognize that it is our responsibility to work towards reconciliation not only as political representatives and participants, but fundamentally as settlers on this territory.
